CI's suicide sparks political fight between YSRC and TD

TD leaders say YSRC applied pressure on CI to file false cases against TD leaders

ANANTAPUR: The suicide of Tadipatri circle inspector A. Ananda Rao has raised a controversy. While the police department claimed the suicide was due to family disputes, his daughter alleged that political pressures led to the suicide.

TD in-charge and Tadipatri municipal chairman J.C. Prabhakar Reddy alleged that YSRC MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy mounted pressure on the inspector to favour YSRC leaders and register false cases against the TD leaders.

A tense situation prevailed at Tadipatri since Monday morning over the suicide as political parties tried to derive political advantage. Ananda Rao had earlier worked in Kadapa and Tirupati areas and had close relations with the staff.

Ananda Rao married the daughter of a retired AR inspector from Kadapa and had two daughters. He was posted to Tadipatri town in September last.

His daughter Bhavya was in tears and told the media that her father had never faced pressures at work in past postings even as he worked in sensitive areas like Kadapa. However, “My father felt the pressure of being unable to work in Tadipatri. He had never felt such pressures elsewhere,” she lamented.

The higher police authorities had claimed there was no pressure of work on the CI and his suicide was purely related to personal problems with his wife.

Prabhakar Reddy alleged that Pedda Reddy mounted pressure on the CI vis-a-vis cases against the TD leaders on flimsy grounds. This apart, YSRC leader Fayaz Bhasha met the inspector at the DSP office on Sunday and mounted pressure on him to remove his name from the SC/ST atrocity case even as there were High Court orders to include his name.

“We lost a sincere police officer due to political pressures and no officer will dare to work here as they would be under pressure to register false cases against opposition party leaders,” Prabhakar Reddy said.

Meanwhile, Pedda Reddy dismissed the allegation made by the TD leader and said he was simply politicising every issue. He challenged the TD leader to take an oath at a temple over the allegations he made against him.

Meanwhile, both the TD and YSRC are planning to take out rallies over the death of the CI in Tadipatri.
