TSPSC had filed the appeal challenging the single judge order to stall the appointment procedure on one petition by six candidates.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday gave the green signal for appointment orders to be served to the 1,851 selected candidates for the post of forest beat officers.

A division bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akther was dealing with the petition by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) challenging the Single Judge order stalling the appointments to the posts because Rule 6-A of the Telangana State Public Service Commission Rules of Procedure was not followed.

While allowing the state to fill the posts, the bench expressed its anguish at such a large number of posts being kept vacant. Chief Justice Chauhan said that the bench came to know through media reports that more forest lands were occupied because of the vacancies in the forest department.

TSPSC had filed the appeal challenging the single judge order to stall the appointment procedure on one petition by six candidates.

The six candidates filed the petition questioning the notification issued for the post of Forest Beat Officers vide Notification No.48/2017, on 15 August 2017, and the selection notification of 12 February 2019 of the provisional selected candidates on the grounds that Rule 6-A of the Telangana State Public Service Commission Rules of Procedure, was not followed. As per Rule 6-A, the TSPSC should ask the selected candidates if they wished to relinquish the post and if any of them do, then the posts should be filled with the next meritorious candidates.
