Hyderabad: A home guard was found in an inebriated condition during the breath analyser test conducted by Rachakonda traffic cops on all the police under the commissionerate randomly. The cops have reported it to higher officials, it is learnt.
The traffic cops started this initiative one month ago.
Apart from random checks daily twice while signing in and signing off, checks will be conducted on cops on duty too.
There have been complaints from citizens that cops are coming to work in an inebriated condition.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M. bhagwat began this initiative.
Speaking about the random checks on police officials, Divya Charan Rao, deputy commissioner of police traffic, said, “It has been a month since we started the drunk and drive checks. If any cop is found in an inebriated condition while on duty, stringent action will be taken after reporting the same it to higher officials. Till now we have found a Home guard under the influence of alcohol while on duty.”
