Thrissur: The Agricultural University's renovated 'Haritha Jalakam' agri-supermarket and a snack bar attached to it have started functioning. It also launched a subscription drive for Kalpadhenu, its semi-scientific tri-monthly. Agriculture minister Sunil Kumar said while Krishibhavan network under the state department had a broad reach, it was the duty of KAU scientists to ensure technical support. “The popularity of KAU products should be exploited in full by enhancing production and increasing sales outlets," he said.
"The agriculture department's agri-malls will have stalls for KAU produces. The packing and marketing strategies should be modified in tune with changing times." The minister also wanted KAU to start an extension centre in Vattavada-Kanthallur belt to promote good agricultural practices. Ollur MLA K. Rajan inaugurated the services and the university's web portal. Vice-chancellor Dr P. Rajendran in his presidential address congratulated officers.
