Abdul Nasser Madani to arrive at Kochi today

He has been granted permission to come to Kollam for eight days by the NIA court.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PDP leader and 2008 serial bomb blast case prime accused Abdul Nasser Madani will arrive at Nedumbassery airport on Monday from Bengaluru where he is in jail and being tried. He has been granted permission to come to Kollam for eight days by the NIA court.

From Nedumbassery, Madani is scheduled to travel to his home at Anwarssery near Sasthamkotta in Kollam by road. Karnataka Police will be escorting him on his trip and will be in charge of his security during his eight-day-long stint in Kollam.

Earlier the Supreme Court had allowed the jailed PDP leader Madani to visit his ailing mother in Kerala who lives at Anwarssery near Sasthamkotta in Kollam. The SC said that the trial court could decide on the number of days that Madani can be at his home. Senior advocate Prasanth Bhushan appeared for Madani in the SC and urged the court to allow him to visit his ailing mother once in two months and also to exempt him from appearing daily before the trial court due to poor health.

The prime accused in the 2008 Bengaluru serial blasts case had appealed to the apex court to allow him to visit his cancer-stricken mother, who is in a critical condition. The apex court also instructed Madani to submit the medical details of his mother. The Karnataka government had contested Madani’s plea, saying that he could try to influence the witnesses in the case in Kerala.
