Srisailam witnesses huge weekend rush

KURNOOL: Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Devasthanam at Srisailam saw a heavy turnout of devotees on Sunday for regular darshans.

Streets were crowded as devotees started arriving since Saturday evening. Around 50,000 devotees had darshan of the presiding deity at the temple atop the hill.

Tauthorities said the number of devotees is expected to rise to over one lakh on Monday. Staff had a tough time managing the swelling crowds.

Temple executive officer S. Lavanna said, “For the convenience of visitors, authorities have made arrangements for accommodation, food and drinking water. It took around five to six hours for the general darshan and three to four hours for the special darshan.”
