Bengaluru's own Cheeni Kum infuriates girl's family

Dr Rose, founder-director of the National Institute of Creative Communication in Hennur Gardens, had married Krupa secretly two months ago.

Bengaluru: In a story straight out of Bollywood movie Cheeni Kum, a 64-year-old founder-director of a college fell in love with and married his 27-year-old student in Bengaluru. Except that unlike the fairy-tale Bollywood ending where the ageing Amitabh Bachchan gets his girl, the city couple were thrashed within an inch of their lives and had to flee the marriage registrar's office.

Parents and relatives of Krupa Prajapati, made a beeline for the Rajarajeshwari Nagar Sub-registrar's office when they knew she and her husband, Dr Akash K. Rose would be arriving to collect their marriage certificate.

Dr Rose, founder-director of the National Institute of Creative Communication in Hennur Gardens, had married Krupa secretly two months ago. Krupa claimed that she informed her father Hassanmukh Prajapati about the relationship, but he opposed it. She justified her marriage to Dr Rose, saying that she was always a neglected child to her parents, who pampered her brothers. She said that she found solace in Dr Rose.
