Osmania University to help faculty progress
Hyderabad: Osmania University has taken up CAS (Career Advancement Scheme) that allows teaching faculty to move up the ladder in their career after a gap of four years. Also the backlog posts that could not be filled due to lack of eligible candidates are being filled now.
This process was not taken up for the last few years because the university did not have a permanent vice-chancellor for the last few years. Interviews are being held for professor and associate professor posts. While 27 senior faculty members are vying for promotion to professor cadre, another 33 are testing their luck to get promoted to associate professor jobs.
Around 200 members have applied for considering seniority in their present assistant professor postings. The interviews are being conducted by a panel led by the vice-chancellor. The process is due to conclude on May 4 and the final results are expected in a week’s time.
Meanwhile, the varsity is also taking steps to fill backlog posts including assistant professor (41 posts), associate professors (11 posts) reserved for SC candidates.
These posts could not be filled due to lack of eligible candidates when recruitment was done in 2013.
