Kozhikode: In the wake of the Government’s decision to make Malayalam language mandatory in all schools functioning in the State, the Kerala Sahodaya School Complex representatives met Governor P. Sadasivam about the concerns of students learning other languages.
CBSE Sahodaya complex Malappuram region welcomed the government’s decision but appealed to the state to take the initiative in the case of students who learn different languages like Arabic and Urdu, which are allowed by the Constitution of India, to give certificates after conducting aptitude exams by the education department, SCERT or Malayalam mission.
They also petitioned the Chief Minister, Education Minister and the committee which will consider the bill to make mother tongue learning for tenth standard students. They also requested that Malayalam textbooks ‘Kerala Padavali’ be distributed to CBSE students too.
The Governor responded that he would give due consideration. CBSE Kerala Sahodaya State Treasurer M. Abdul Naser and district President M. Jouhar were present at the meeting.
