JEE rank cakewalk for this mathematics buff
Kozhikode: “Stayed calm and did a thorough revision of all that was taught in the last two years” - this was the reply of Shafil Maheen when asked about his Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advance preparations.
Shafil Maheen, a native of Tirur, but at present settled in Kozhikode for his studies has made the State proud by securing the all-India eighth rank for the IIT-JEE (Main) examination.
To Shafil goes the credit of being the first rank holder for the exam in the State and all- India first rank holder under the OBC Category for the examination.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the JEE- Main examination results which is conducted for admission to various engineering colleges including the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology.
Son of Niyazi and Dr Shamgida, Shafil aspires to become a noted mathematician for which admission to national institutions was his priority. He competed with over 10.3 lakh students who appeared for the examination at 1781 centers across the country, which was held on April 2 (Offline) and April 8 and 9 (Online).
“I find mathematics very interesting and it is evolving continuously”, says Shafil, who is now seriously preparing for the JEE- Advanced 2017. “In the mains, the paper was easy but lengthy and I enjoyed working upon mathematics more than any other subjects,” he says. For the last two years, Shafil has been getting coaching from a entrance coaching centre here, for both his higher secondary examinations and also for the entrance examination.
Dr Shamgida, Shafil’s mother says, “It was indeed a proud moment for the whole family to get the news of my son’s performance,” she told Deccan Chronicle.
“Since this is just a step towards the major examination, we are confident that he will come out in flying colours even for the final stage of the examination”, she added.
