A police team from Chakkarakkal police station under an additional SI is probing the source of the news.

KANNUR: The police have denied the rumours on the death of a BJP worker, Lijesh, Thattari, Anjarakkandy, who was injured in a clash near his house on March 31. The police said his injuries were not serious and that he was recovering. Some persons had spread the news on the social media saying that the BJP worker was dead and that the party had called a district-wide hartal on Monday. A police team from Chakkarakkal police station under an additional SI is probing the source of the news.
Four CPM workers, Nidheesh alias Unni, P. Sharath, C. Didil and P.G. Ranjith, were arrested on Sunday and four of them were remanded for 14 days and sent to central prison. The police said that though the accused and the victim belonged to different political parties, there was no political link to the attack and that it was connected to a clash during a temple festival nearby. The women members of his family were also injured in the clash near his house.
