VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam leaders, including national spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram, got conditional bail from the Vijayawada SC and ST Special Court on Friday.
The TD leaders had been arrested after police registered a case against them in the Gannavaram incident. The leaders moved a bail petition, which the Vijayawada SC and ST Special Court heard on Thursday. Senior advocate Posani Venkateshwarlu argued the case on behalf of Pattabhi and other leaders.
On Friday, Judge A. Satyanand granted bail to 13 TD leaders including Pattabhi on condition that they will appear at the police station every Thursday for three months.
Police had registered a case against Pattabhi and others based on a complaint filed by Gannavaram circle inspector Kanaka Rao. The CI had complained that he had been attacked and injured when he arrived at the Gannavaram TD office to control a ruckus there.
The CI received head injuries and had been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Police then registered a case and arrested 13 persons including Pattabhi.
