National Fish Workers Forum (NFF) urged the Puducherry government to provide adequate compensation to the fishermen.
On being chased, the shocked fishermen began to return to shore, but the Lankan Navy personnel allegedly smashed one of the boats belonging to one Praveen and damaged it badly, they said.
Puducherry: National Fish Workers Forum (NFF) urged the Puducherry government to provide adequate compensation to the fishermen who could not venture into the sea for the last few months as the dredging operation of the estuary of the fishing harbour in neighbouring Thengaithittu was delayed.
M. Ilango, chairperson, National Fisherfolk Forum, in a press release said that it is usual that the government of Puducherry desilt the bar mouth through giving nomination work to the dredging companies.
