Government Creating Hurdles for Welfare Scheme Beneficiaries, says Kishan

Hyderabad: BJP’s state unit president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said that the state government was causing unnecessary trouble by asking people to fill new forms to apply for welfare schemes. This was an attempt to fool them until the general elections, he said.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, he said that the government had details of the FIRs lodged against statehood activists.

“Why is data being sought from the activists to provide 250 sq. yards land to them,” he wondered.

The data to provide subsidised LPG cylinders was available with the civil supplies department, while data regarding landless labourers was available with the NREGA.

“Where is the need for seeking details again to provide Rs 12,000 to them? It would have been acceptable if they had sought applications from new beneficiaries,” Reddy said.

The BJP leader claimed that the people were being forced to go around government officials and behind Congress leaders to avail of welfare scheme benefits.

He said the data on self-help groups and Jandhan bank accounts was enough to select beneficiaries for the Maha Lakshmi scheme to provide Rs 2,500 for women.

On the controversy around a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project, Reddy clarified that he had not asked the Congress to stop the judicial inquiry but had only sought a CBI probe for a quicker outcome.

He claimed that the government has started making U-turns on its promises.

“The flip flop on the Pharma City came about within 15 days after pharma company representatives met him,” he alleged

Responding to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi “expired medicine,” Reddy said, “For as long as Rahul (Gandhi) is there, the Modi medicine will not expire. Ours is a successful medicine. The BJP will not be cowed down by personal attacks against its leaders”, he said.
