HC hears PIL on TTD members with criminal cases

The state government had issued GO 245 in September last year appointing members to the TTD board

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed petitioner G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy to publicise in newspapers filing of public interest litigation on members of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board against whom criminal cases are pending.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice M. Satyanarayana Murthy heard a petition challenging appointment of 18 members out of total 28 as members of TTD, despite having criminal cases pending against them.

The state government had issued GO 245 in September last year appointing members to the TTD board.

Petitioner and former TTD Board member Prakash Reddy submitted to the court that out of 18 members, who had been served notices to file counter affidavits, only 15 members accepted the notices. Three people – Alluri Maheswari, MLA Ram Bhupal Reddy and M.N. Sasidhar, did not receive the court’s notice.
The court posted the next hearing of the PIL to February 7.
