Don't arrest Chikkarayappa: Karnataka HC
Bengaluru: With T.N. Chikkarayappa, the suspended managing director of Cauvery Neeravari Nigama, giving an undertaking before the high court that he will cooperate with the investigation, the high court has asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) not to arrest him.
Ever since raids by income tax officials which unearthed alleged large amounts of illegal assets, Chikkarayappa had been at large, prompting the investigating authorities to issue a lookout notice, asking him to appear before it.
The accused had later approached the high court seeking quashing of the ACB proceedings against him, while filing an interlocutory application (IA), specifically seeking directions not to arrest him as he will cooperate with the investigation.
He had even approached the lower court seeking anticipatory bail on December 16, following which the court had reserved its orders. Meanwhile, the ACB issued a ‘lookout notice’ on December 22. Later, Chikkarayappa approached the High Court with an IA, in which he submitted that he will cooperate with the investigation provided he is not arrested.
On his plea seeking quashing of the ACB proceedings against him, he alleged that he has not received the FIR copy filed against him.
