Proposal to include Vedic students in Amma Vodi scheme

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation chairman Peri Kameswara Rao announced that they will be sending a proposal to the state government to include Vedic students under the Amma Vodi scheme.

Addressing media here on Saturday, he said that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is working for the development and welfare of Brahmins. The CM has extended several welfare schemes for Brahmins. Further, the state government has so far spent ₹716 crore for Brahmin welfare.

Kameswara Rao pointed out that their corporation has sanctioned ₹10.9 lakh for granting ₹10,000 each to kin of 109 deceased Brahmins. He said proposals have been sent to the government for repairing the Yadavalli Sathram in Guntur district, and recognising “Pourohityam” as a profession of the Brahmin caste.

The corporation chairman further said they have prepared suitable proposals on Upanayana and Kalyanamastu schemes for Brahmins.
