Hyderabad: After BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao put out statements exuding the confidence that the party would win the elections, and party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao convened a Cabinet meeting on Monday in a bid to shore up the morale of party workers, the ruling party on Saturday propagated an “all is well” message to its cadre by sprucing up the sprawling CM’s camp office and official residence Pragathi Bhavan.
The social media wing of the ruling party uploaded and shared pictures of painters working on the main arch of Pragathi Bhavan, with the caption “That is CM KCR.” Staunch loyalists explained that the camp office was being readied for Chandrashekar Rao’s third term.
Sources explained that the paint had worn off in some places and the white cement had peeled off more than a year ago.
Official sources told Deccan Chronicle that there was no agenda for the proposed December 4 Cabinet meeting, making it clear that it could be a brief and nominal affair. As per the rules, the incumbent Cabinet should meet, resign and recommend dissolution of the Assembly to the Governor to pave the way for constituting a new government post-election.
“Recommending the dissolution of the House to the Governor is all the more important because the term of the incumbent House is up to January,” a senior official said.
On several previous occasions, Chief Ministers convened meetings of their Cabinets and recommended dissolution of the House if they faced defeat in the polls. In the event of the same party returning to power, the Cabinet still has to recommend the dissolution of the incumbent House.
“Either way, Chief Ministers used to wait for the poll result and act,” the official cited above said.
