HYDERABAD: President Ram Nath Kovind will stay in the city for up to five days in the last week of December for the customary winter sojourn. Officials of various departments are carrying out preparation works at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bollarum for the President’s annual visit.

In an official communiqué, authorities in the Rashtrapati Nilayam notified the state government confirming the President’s southern sojourn. In a rare aberration, the President did not visit Hyderabad last year in view of the Covid pandemic restrictions.

Officials in the Secunderabad cantonment Board (SCB) have been assigned with sanitation-related responsibilities during the President’s visit.

“We are responsible for cleaning of roads, clearing garbage and debris, and spraying of anti-mosquito chemicals,” said M. Devender, health & sanitation superintendent in the SCB.
