BJP blind to Dalits: Radhika Vemula

She added, “What is left for me now is to talk to students like you, in whom I see my son Rohitâ€.

KOZHIKODE: Radhika Vemula the mother of Hyderabad University research scholar Rohit Vemula, on Friday inaugurated the Photography exhibition ‘Expression of Oppression’ organised by the students of the sociology department of Farook College. It was her first visit to Malabar. She also spoke at the seminar on oppression and said, “We must take revenge on the BJP through votes because it is this Government that has turned a blind eye towards Dalits of the country and my son is an example”.

Talking about the expression of oppression, Mrs Vemula said, “The universities in the country are made as if they are not a suitable place for Dalits. We personally took initiatives to select a representative from our community for the MLA, MP posts, but indirectly we see them working only for their parties and our voice is oppressed by them”, she said.

She added, “What is left for me now is to talk to students like you, in whom I see my son Rohit”. As she has been saying to the students of other States, she repeated to Farook College students to support her fight till the Rohit Act was brought into practice. The photography exhibition featured the condition of Dalits in the Country, and some of the photographs were even taken by the students of the college.
