APJ Abdul Kalam University exams after Christmas

The decision to postpone was taken at an executive meeting held on Thursday.

Thiruvananthapuram: The first and third semester B Tech examinations of the APJ Abdul Kalam University will get delayed and start only after Christmas. The examinations were scheduled to begin on Friday. As per plans, the university was to upload question papers on the website by 9 a.m on Thursday and allow colleges to download it and distribute it to the students after taking Photostat copies, University Pro Vice Chancellor M Abdul Rahman said. However, students and teachers organisations took the stand that this would not be allowed as there were chances of the question papers getting leaked in self-financing engineering colleges.

Following this, the university decided to go in for printed question papers instead of uploading them on the website forcing them to postpone the examinations. The decision to postpone was taken at an executive meeting held on Thursday. Mr Rahman told DC that the new dates of the examinations had not been yet decided. They were likely to start only in January, he added. This was because the university would have to print a new set of question papers. For this, the university would have to first identify a security press for printing the question papers and entrust them with the printing job.

After that they would have to be transported to examinations centre by road before examinations could be conducted, Mr Rahman added. However, the first and third semester M.Tech, first semester MCA (Regular, Lateral Entry and Integrated), first semester B.Arch, first semester M.Arch, first semester M.Plan, first Trimester MBA (Supplementary) and Fourth Trimester MBA examinations will be conducted as per schedule.
