Palvancha SI fined Rs 3K for delay in probe

Hyderabad: Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the Palvancha sub-inspector of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district to pay a fine of Rs 00 for delay in investigation and default in filing the chargesheet. The judge was dealing with a writ plea filed by Ajmira Lakhupati, who alleged that the official had deliberately delayed filing the chargesheet. The judge after perusing the records noted that the sub-inspector had failed to file a counter previously even though multiple chances were given, and said that such negligence cannot be entertained.

HC stays ICAI disciplinary action

Hyderabad: Justice S. Nanda of the Telangana High Court on Friday stayed proceedings of the Disciplinary Directorate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in an alleged professional misconduct case. A writ plea was preferred by V. Vijay Sai Reddy, a chartered accountant, challenging the action of ICAI in suspending him without following the principles of natural justice. A Venkatesh, senior advocate, said that Vijay Sai Reddy was suspended in relation to an Enforcement Directorate case pending against him. He said the ED proceedings had not been concluded, and that it did not have any relevance to his profession.

Notice to poll panel over appointment

Hyderabad: Justice S Nanda of the Telangana High Court issued notice to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Electoral Office in a matter pertaining to the appointment of commissioner of tribal welfare. A writ was filed by Govind Naik Malothu challenging the action of the ECI in not appointing and posting the secretary and commissioner, tribal welfare. It is the case of the ECI that the job of filling up the post does not fall within its preview. The judge required the ECI and the CEO to file their response in writing.
