women's organisations to oppose Beach Lovers Festival

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and a few ministers are expected to participate.

Visakhapatnam: Leaders and activists of various women’s organisations are opposing the proposed Beach Lovers Festival (BLF-2017) in Vizag planned to be held in February-2017 soon after the Partnership Summit-II, saying that the event would damage the city’s culture and also push up the crime rate.

The three-day BLF-2017 will be jointly held by Department of Youth Affairs, Tourism Department and Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority from February 12 to 14.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and a few ministers are expected to participate.

Progressive Organisation for Women, AP chapter, secretary M. Lakshmi said that they have decided to oppose the western way of displaying affection. She alleged that a local minister has been trying to tarnish the image of Vizag by promoting drinking, obscenity and nude dances.
