Chennai: Techie tries to ditch lover, jailed
Chennai: A 27-year-old techie, who is from Kottayam, was arrested on Tuesday by the City Police after his jilted lover preferred a police complaint against him stating he had finalised his marriage with another woman.
M. Manish, who is employed by an IT major in Sholinganallur, began avoiding the complainant, Bindhu (name changed) (27), after his recent trips to Kottayam. The couple had known each other since their schooldays and have been in love since 2008 and they also moved to Chennai together in 2011.
They had been living together as a couple for quite some time until the recent rift forced by Manish. Things fell apart between the live-in couple after they moved to Teynampet from St. Thomas Mount.
Mahesh blocked Bindhu from reaching him on his mobile phone while moving out to a hostel. In the meantime, Bindhu got a call from her school friend who broke the news of Manish’s wedding plan and wondered as to whether she had received an invitation.
She learnt that Manish’s recent visits to Kottayam were linked to the engagement and other preparations ahead of the event. As Bindhu, who is employed in a private firm, came to know the wedding was scheduled for November 13, she attempted to talk Manish out of it, but in vain.
She preferred a complaint with Teynampet Police on Tuesday and the cops summoned Manish for interrogation. Preliminary investigations revealed that Manish was in a physical relationship with Bindhu after promising to marry her. However, he refused to marry her since he was more inclined to wed the bride arranged for him by his family back in Kottayam. Manish was booked on charges of breach-of-trust and arrested before being remanded to judicial custody.
