Lavdya Sangeetha, a degree student at the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Degree College for Girls (TTWRDG), Asifabad in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, died of illness amid allegations that she did not receive proper medical treatment at the district headquarters hospital in Asifabad.

Sangeetha, a topper in BSC (BZC) first year, was a talented dancer who performed at the 75th year of Independence Day celebrations in her college, days before she died.

The police failed to conduct a post-mortem on Sangeetha, which raised many questions about the circumstances surrounding her death, especially since she was active just before her death. Sangeetha’s family accused the police and district officials of handing over her body without performing a postmortem, burying the reasons for her death.

Sangeetha’s family members alleged that their daughter died due to negligence of the medical staff at the government hospital who allegedly administered a drug twice within a few hours and subsequently she went into a coma.

It is learnt that ANM gave a paracetamol tablet to Sangeetha when she complained of fever.

Sangeetha’s father, Shivaram, has demanded that the Telangana government conduct a postmortem on his daughter’s body by exhuming it, as well as review CCTV footage to confirm whether doctors followed proper medical procedure.

Further, Shivaram stated that district officials and police diverted the ambulance carrying Sangeetha's body to another route to reach their Chinthakunta village rather than allowing them to go to Sirpur (T) in order to avoid doing postmortem.

Mangilal Naik, MPTC of Chinthakunta and a close relative of Sangeetha, wondered how a young girl who walked to the hospital complaining of only body pains from dancing could die within hours.
