Kerala: Admissions to two medical colleges cancelled

The committee also found that Kannur Medical College did not give any link to their website for students to submit their applications.

Thiruvananthapuram: Admission Supervisory Committee headed by Justice J.M. James has cancelled all the admissions made to Kannur Medical College, Anjarakandi and Karuna Medical College, Palakkad for violation of directives of the committee for a fair and transparent admission process. The committee, in its order, has asked the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE) to start the admissions in a combined centralised manner, maintaining the Triple Tests laid down by the Supreme Court to admit students to 150 seats in Kannur and 100 seats in Karuna Medical college.

All the applicants who have applied before the Medical College for MBBS admission or rejected by the medical college and those who are admitted, are entitled to appear for the Centralised counselling that would be notified by the government, said the order. The committee found the Karuna Medical College had not invited online applications and no website or facilities were provided enabling the applicants to apply for the MBBS admissions.

The committee also found that Kannur Medical College did not give any link to their website for students to submit their applications. Instead, the applicants were forced to make their way through another website viz, Minority Professional College Management Association (MPCMA). This site was also not directly notified by the Medical College on its website to easily enable the applicants to enter and register their online applications, the committee said.
