Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP will kick off Telangana Liberation Day celebrations from September 17 as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday which falls on the same day.
State BJP president G Kishan Reddy said the party will celebrate ‘Telangana Vimochana Vajrotsavalu’ in every village starting September 17. These will be in addition to an office programme expected to be held in Warangal that day.
In particular, the party will hold these celebrations in villages affected by Razakars before Hyderabad State became part of Indian Union in 1948, a year after India became independent.
“We will honour families whose forefathers fought the Razakaars in recognition of their sacrifices for freeing Telangana from the clutches of the Nizam,” he said.
