Airport Metro: 2 firms to study project details

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) on Saturday announced the selection of Arvee Associates, the lowest bidder, to prepare detailed project reports for two packages and two more to Systra, the second lowest bidder.

HAML managing director N.V.S. Reddy said five consultancy agencies had submitted their bids. They were evaluated by the HAML tender committee and four of them were declared technically qualified. Their financial bids were opened on August 30.

Reddy said Aarvee Associates had got the highest technical score and offered the lowest financial bids for all four packages. As per the tender conditions, Aarvee was awarded two packages and the other two packages to the next highest technical scorer Systra, after it matched the lowest financial bid.

Reddy said Aarvee and Systra will have to submit preliminary project reports in two months after carrying out traffic surveys, travel demand forecasting, ridership estimates, alternative options analysis etc., and recommend suitable modes of public transport.

In the subsequent three months they will prepare the DPRs with details of Metro Rail alignment, viaduct/at grade/underground options, stations and depots, electric traction, signalling and train communication, coaches, environment/social impact assessment, transit oriented development, last mile connectivity, cost estimates, fare structure, financial analysis, project implementation plan, etc.
The agencies have been asked to start work immediately

Arvee got the 94-km Package 2 (Shamshabad jn Metro Stn to Shadnagar (28 km); Shamshabad Airport Stn to Kandukur Pharma City; ORR Shamshabad Jn to ORR Pedda Amberpet Jn (40 km); and Package 3 stretching 78 km (Uppal X Road to Bibinagar (25 km); Tarnaka X Road to ECIL X Road (8 km); ORR Pedda Amberpet Jn to ORR Medchal Jn (45 km). It had bid for Package 2 at Rs 3.05 crore and for Package 3 at Rs 2.53 crore

Systra bid Rs 2.55 crore and secured Package 1 (BHEL to Isnapur (13 km); LB Nagar to Pedda Amberpet (13 km) and ORR Patancheruvu Jn to ORR Narsingi Jn (22 km), totalling 48 km and the Rs 2.56-crore 58-km Package 4 (Double elevated flyover / Metro from JBS Metro Stn to Tumkunta (17 km; Double elevated flyover / Metro from Paradise X Road to Kandlakoya (12 km); and ORR Medchal Jn-ORR Patancheruvu Jn (29 km).
