CPM calls for protest against LPG hike
The Centre's move is to do away with the subsidy by 2018. It is also planning to hike price of LPG every month .
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishan has called for state wide protests against Centre's decision to hike the prices of subsidized and non subsidised LPG cylinder. In a statement here, he said the price of subsidised cylinder has been increased by Rs 70 and the non subsidised by Rs 73.50 paisa. The Centre's move is to do away with the subsidy by 2018. It is also planning to hike price of LPG every month .
Coming as it right after the beginning of Onam celebrations in Kerala, the LPG price hike has delivered a major blow to the people. “It has come as a bolt from the blue for the common man who is reeling under spiralling prices of essential commodities,” he said.
