Youth bring help to stranded passengers in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: A group of youths came to the help of the stranded passengers who reached the Kozhikode railway station on the day of the all-India trade union strike on Friday. A 22-member team of FIFA Arts and Sports Club of Kallayi were active from 5 a.m. with their two-wheelers taking the commuters on their vehicles to their destinations. They dropped the needy passengers at places out of the corporation limits also. P. Saleem, a member of the club (it takes its inspiration from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association) told DC that they wanted to do some good work on the day and spread the message of ‘Say no to hartal.’

“We have more than 40 members but many could not turn up. The volunteers took even more than two people on a bike against the rules to help some families reach their places,” he said. “Till 4.30 p.m., we were travelling to help the stranded people,” Saleem said. “We also could take a few patients to the hospital, who had reached the city for specialty treatment from faraway places,” he added.
