Chennai: The woman police Inspector's act of carrying a bottle filled with kerosene into the corridors of the state Secretariat without being frisked by police teams has raised questions over a possible security lapse inside the highly guarded Fort St George.
“She was not on duty there. She was not wearing a special pass. She should not have been allowed inside,” an officer disclosed while adding that many police personnel on duty knew her at the Secretariat where the police personnel check even the vehicle of opposition leader.
When asked if she was allowed inside just because she was wearing a police uniform, an official pointed that she works in the same police district of Flower Bazaar.
The case could have taken a completely different a nasty and turn if she had poured the kerosene on some others in the secretariat, an officer pointed out.
Following the incident, top police officials are now chalking out a system to make sure that such free access to uniformed persons is denied inside the state secretariat.
