TS informs HC about the the WAKF lands protection from the encroachers

HYDERABAD: The state government on Tuesday informed the High Court that the Wakf Board lands measuring 84 acres and 30 guntas that were scattered across the state were recovered from land grabbers between August 2021 and February 2022.

Another piece of Wakf land located in Survey No. 415 of Hasnaparthy, Warangal district, measuring 1 acre and 32 guntas was also recovered from encroachers, special government pleader Harender Prasad said in a status report which was submitted to the court.

Expressing satisfaction over the report, a division bench headed by Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan appreciated the petitioner who had filed PILs on the encroachment of Wakf lands for approaching the court for a good cause. The court also asked the member-secretary, Telangana State Legal Services Authority, to regularly monitor the work of the STF and prepare a report.

The High Court closed the public interest litigations filed by Mohammed Ilyas seeking to take immediate measures for the safety of Wakf lands from illegal encroachment.
