Speaker Dhanapal warns Vijayadharani

It all started when law minister C.Ve. Shanmugham began his reply to the debate on the demands for the grants for his department.

Chennai: Speaker P. Dhanapal on Tuesday warned Congress legislator S. Vijayadharani of strict action if she continued to disrupt the Assembly proceedings.

It all started when law minister C.Ve. Shanmugham began his reply to the debate on the demands for the grants for his department. Congress legislator Vijayadharani rose from her seat and continued to appeal to Speaker demanding a chance to speak on the demands.

However, the Speaker turned down her request and asked her to sit. But the Congress legislator continued to appeal in a loud voice even as Mr Shanmugham began his reply speech. Mr Jayaraman said that Vijayadharani shouting would not be recorded. She continued to disrupt the proceedings even after leader of House O. Panneerselvam's intervention.

Mr Dhanapal said that he had already told Congress legislative party leader K.R. Ramasamy that his party would not get a chance to speak on Tuesday.

He noted that even Vijayadharani met him in his chamber requesting a chance to speak. He said that she accepted when he gave her an option to speak next day but now she is protesting in the House. “I warn you I will take action if you continued to disrupt assembly proceedings,” he said.
