Karnataka HC rejects MariGowda's bail plea

The court, however, refused to grant bail and observed that the petitioner may approach lower court seeking bail.

BENGALURU: The high court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition of K Mari Gowda, an ‘alleged’ close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accused of reportedly humiliating Mysuru deputy commissioner C. Shikha in public, following a row over a land issue.

The court observed how can an executive function effectively, when even Deputy Commissioners face humiliation and obstructions while discharging their duties. Meanwhile the petitioner’s advocate argued that it was a false and a politically motivated case. The court, however, refused to grant bail and observed that the petitioner may approach lower court seeking bail.

HC allows demolition
The high court vacated a stay granted against demolition of a compound wall, constructed by Sobha Developers, on a road leading to HSR Layout and Harlur Road. However, the court directed BBMP not to carry out the demolition till Friday, following a request made by the apartment residents.

The petitioners, Sobha Daffodil Condominium, had approached the High Court seeking quashing of the notice issued by the Joint Commissioner, BBMP, who had questioned the encroachment of a road by constructing a compound wall. The court had earlier stayed the demolition. Later the palike had approached the court.
