HYDERABAD: After a hot and sunny day, heavy rains lashed several parts of the city in the evening on Sunday, bringing some relief from the heat.
A statement said that a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal could cause rains for five days and a yellow alert, asking people to be updated about the weather, was issued.
Suncity, Bandlaguda, Chintalmet, Nallagandla, Madhapur, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Mehdipatnam, Nampally, Shaikpet, Charminar, Asifnagar, Saidabad, Patancheru, Serilingampally. Tolichowki, Manikonda, Narsingi, Khajaguda, Gachibowli, Khairatabad, Attapur, Nampally and Karmanghat, received moderate rain for around an hour.
As per the TS Development and Planning Society report, Nampally received the highest rainfall of 21 mm, followed by Shaikpet at 18.5 mm and Serilingampally at 15.8 mm.
Statewide, rains and thunderstorms were reported from Vikarabad, Jogulamba Gadwal, Ranga Reddy, Narayanpet, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Wanaparthy, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Suryapet districts.
The highest rainfall was recorded in the district of Vikarabad at 61.3 mm, followed by Jogulamba Gadwal at 45.5 mm and Rangareddy at 35.5 mm.
Light to moderate rains or thundershowers were forecast for Hyderabad and surrounding districts like Sangareddy, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Medak, as well as nearby districts such as Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Vikarabad and Siddipet as well as Nagarkurnool, Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Komaram Bheem, Jagtiyal, Jogulamba Gadwal and Khammam.
For the next 48 hours, the city will be humid with a relative humidity of 71 per cent with a breeze of 10-12 kmph.
