Hyderabad: A Class IX student was injured in a brawl with a fellow student at Geetanjali global school in Kompally on Sunday.

The police identified the students as Yeshwant Reddy, 14 and Sanjeeva Reddy, 14, both were classmates.

According to the police, they fought on Saturday regarding who would clean the plates.

The warden spoke to the students and tried to solve the issue.

However, they again fought on Sunday when Yeshwant Reddy was leaving the room when Sanjeev Reddy kicked the door and Yeshwant Reddy’s fingers got crushed.

Achuthrao, a child rights activist said, “According to Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection Act, if it is a residential school it is the responsibility of the school to take care of the children.”

However, Prem Shankar Duba, the caretaker of Geetanjali global school denied that there was a quarrel.

He said, “There was no quarrel between the students. Sanjeev closed the door without noticing Yeshwant’s fingers.”

“Since both were juveniles, we are registering a case according to the Juvenile Act and on the management for lack of supervision on their part,” said Insp-ector of police Petbash-eerabad, Ravi Chandra.
