MP M K Raghavan-Collector N Prasanth spar has their fans active
KOZHIKODE: With two popular public figures, Kozhikode district collector N. Prasanth and Mr M.K. Raghavan MP locking horns, their supporters have joined issue on the social networking sites and public realms. Mr Raghavan also submitted a complaint to the Parliament privileges committee and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Congress workers launched an agitation demanding the collector’s removal. A section of them took out a protest march in the town on Saturday and burnt the collector in effigy.
But the public feel that both should end the ego clash and attend to serious issues. The officials who participated in the review meeting of the MP’s projects held in the absence of the collector recently told DC that there were no threats or harsh words from the MP during the meeting. The collector did not even send a reply to a letter submitted by the MP on the delay of works, it was alleged.
Those close to the collector point out that his reaction was not just to the single incident but a chain of incidents. Among the MP’s countless projects, only 16 have been submitted for super-check, it was pointed out. Meanwhile, the CPM district committee came out in support of the collector saying the controversy hints at the immature attitude of the MP.
