Row over Savarkar in Mangaluru now

Bajrang Dal supporterd quietly pasted signage naming a flyover after Hindutva icon

Mangaluru: Even as a controversy is raging over the naming of a flyover at Yelahanka in Bengaluru after V D Savarkar, miscreants have put up a banner on the Pumpwell flyover in Mangaluru naming after the Hindutva icon.

The poster mysteriously appeared on the flyover Tuesday night, which otherwise has the dubious distinction of being a flyover that took the longest time to construct.

As it was raining in Mangaluru, and as the number of vehicle was less on the road, miscreants found it an apt time and pasted the banner. By 8.30 the photo went viral.

Police immediately rushed to the spot and removed the banner. When there is controversy over Savarkar flyover in Bengaluru, this act is likely to attract criticism in Mangaluru, considered as the stronghold of Hindutva outfits.
'Bajarangadala,' is painted next to it.

"Savarkar is a great freedom fighter and people of Mangaluru will not oppose naming the flyover after him," VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell told Deccan Chronicle.

However nobody has a clear picture as to who was involved in this act.
