Love football sans flex boards: Arimboor Padashala

Students to request organisations, clubs to stop practice

THRISSUR: Arimboor Padashala, a cultural organisation for children, which successfully conducted a campaign against the use of flex boards during elections to civic bodies in 2015 at Arimboor panchayat here will be conducting a campaign against the rampant use of flex boards by football fans in central and north Kerala in view of the FIFA World Cup in Russia that begins later this month.
As part of its campaign against flex boards that is made of PVC which is causing severe environmental hazards, as many as 100 students who got A Plus in SSLC and CBSE examination will be lining up at Arimboor Panchayat Office requesting different organisations not to print flex sheets with their photos congratulating them for success in the examination.

“Along with this protest, we will be requesting the football fans to minimise the use of flex boards and the ink that contains harmful chemicals. It has always amused us that even in countries which are taking part in the World Cup will not use so many flex boards like in Kerala. So, we will request the organisations, fan and sports clubs to help improve football in the country in several other ways other than simply printing and erecting flex boards of their favourite teams,” Sasi Kumar who heads the Padshala, said.
