No ban on cattle slaughter: Amit Shah
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP national president Amit Shah has allayed the fears of Keralites about the ban on cattle slaughter. Mr Shah who held talks with the leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Kochi on Friday clarified that the Union government had not banned cattle slaughter in the country, but only made amendments as per the Supreme Court’s directions.
Even the Kerala High Court had made it clear that cattle slaughter had not been banned, he told the NDA leaders who expressed concern over the recent government notification. Apart from BJP leaders, Kerala Congress chairman P.C. Thomas, BDJS chairman Thushar Vellappally and Janadhipathya Rashtreeya Sabha leader C.K. Janu also attended the meet. Mr Shah told the BJP core committee meeting held at the Ernakulam government guest house that he wanted the state BJP to bag at least 12 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
