The Karate kid who proved her mettle in studies, too

The student of Choice school, Thripunithura, Nimmy scored 485 marks out 500.

Kochi: Nimmi Dev, the student who bagged second topper position among persons with disabilities category in CBSE 12 standard is made of sterner stuff: she will receive a black belt in Karate by next month. The student of Choice school, Thripunithura, Nimmy scored 485 marks out 500.

Daughter of Bhavin Dev, a Gujarati businessman in Kochi, and Deepthi Dev, Nimmy was confident she would make the cut but never thought of bagging a rank. The teachers and officials of the school were very supportive in her pursuit of education but she specially thanks her parents. "They never pressured me," she said. "They just trusted us."

Nimmy's favourite subjects are sociology and psychology but she is yet to decide on the course she would pursue for her degree. "I am not angling for high positions but something that helps me serve the nation," she said.
