Vizag beaches to be developed as per global standards: Suresh

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam beach would be developed on par with international standards, said municipal administration minister Adimulapu Suresh. The minister visited a private beach resort where Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and other delegates were staying.

“As per the vision of the Chief Minister, the beach would be developed to make it the best in the world, and plans for the same have been prepared,” Suresh said.
He said beautification works taken up thus far have been satisfactory and directed GVMC officials to complete the same before the G20 meetings, which are to be held towards the end of March.

Apart from the popular RK Beach, Rushikonda Beach and Bheemili, five more beaches would be developed on par with global standards, the minister added. The works would be taken up in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the environment ministry.

He said walls on either side of the Beach Road and other important roads in the city were being painted with pictures and roads were topped with bitumen to cover up potholes and other stretches. Saplings are being planted on the medians as well as footpaths to give a green touch to the city.
