Driving testing yard goes hi-tech in Thiruvananthapuram

The yards are equipped with sensors to detect any violations, and the results would be delivered by the software automatically.

Thiruvananthapuram: Driving licence testing in the city has been made foolproof as the automated driving testing yard of motor vehicles department (MVD) was commissioned on Thursday. The yard has the facility for driving licence tests for four-wheelers, three-wheelers and two-wheelers. Transport minister A. K. Saseendran inaugurated the facility at Muttathara. For four-wheelers, the H-test, gradient test and parking test could be carried out. For three-wheelers and two-wheelers, 8-test could be carried out in the yard.

The yards are equipped with sensors to detect any violations, and the results would be delivered by the software automatically. Anoop S., the network engineer of Keltron, which installed the systems, said in case a candidate fails, it would show a detailed analysis and the reasons for failure with graphical representations. “The scope for manipulations is nil. High definition sensors are used in the yard and hence the tests could be conducted even during rainy climates," said Mr Anoop who is the site in-charge of the yard.
