MLC Bhumireddy accuses TTD of 'favoritism' towards YSRC leaders

Tirupati: MLC Bhumireddy Ramgopal Reddy on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officials on Wednesday, accusing them of discriminatory practices in allotting darshans of Lord Venkateswara against opposition party representatives.

Speaking to the media after visiting the Tirumala temple, Ramgopal claimed that the TTD officials were distancing the common devotees from having darshan of the deity and showing favouritism towards YSRC leaders in allotting both darshan tokens and accommodation rooms.

"TTD officials are regularly issuing more darshan tickets to YSRC representatives and leaders, while the opposition leaders have to run from pillar to post to get tokens. Despite complaints to TTD top officials about the injustice being done to opposition party representatives, no action has been taken,” he alleged.

The MLC further alleged that the ruling YSRC leaders were not even sparing Lord Venkateswara to gain political mileage in the upcoming election. He demanded the TTD give equal priority to all public representatives without any discrimination against opposition parties. He said they would welcome it if TTD cancelled the discretionary quota of 'break darshans' to give top priority to common devotees.
