Huge explosion in underground drainage at Charlapally

Hyderabad: Panic gripped the residents of Madhusudanreddy Nagar near Venkatreddy Nagar in Charlapally following a huge explosion in the underground drainage this morning.

The manhole cover was blown off into the air under the impact of the explosion and the entire area stinked with chemical odour.

On information, the firefighting personnel reached the place and tried to douse the flames.

Police suspect that the chemical effluents being released into the drainage by the factories led to the explosion.

Police registered a case and began investigation.
