AP, TS boat operators fight over transporting devotees in Somasila
Hyderabad: A scuffle broke out near the Someswara Swamy temple in Somasila over transporting devotees, when Telangana boat owners objected to boats being brought in from Andhra Pradesh. The Kollapur police deploying personnel to disperse the quarrelling groups. The boats from Andhra Pradesh were also sent back, Kollapur sub-inspector G. Bala Venkata Ramana said.
The police said that since the area was at the border of the two states, devotees from Andhra Pradesh travelled in their boats on the Penna River, and this led to friction among those operating boats to transport devotees.
“When boats from AP arrived last night, the Telangana boat operators asked them to leave the place and not to carry passengers. Arguments took place between boat operators of both states. With police intervention, the boat operators dispersed from the place,” an official said.
