Panchayat official fined for violating court orders

Hyderabad: Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of Telangana High Court on Friday imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on Veerabuchaiah, district panchayat officer, Karimnagar, for violating court orders.

A contempt plea was filed against him by Katla Mallikarjun contending that in spite of court orders, the officer did not oblige.

Earlier, one Katla Mallikarjun filed a writ petition seeking a direction to appoint him as a panchayat secretary in the vacancy earmarked for persons with partial vision or blindness with all consequential benefits.

A judge had observed that Mallikarjun was visually impaired and directed the authorities to appoint the petitioner as grade-IV panchayat secretary.

When officials failed to appoint Mallikarjun, the present petition was filed. The judge, observing that the official failed to follow court orders, imposed the fine.
