KTR announces Rs 1,544 crore for Nalgonda development

HYDERABAD: Minister K.T. Rama Rao, who had assured Munugode voters that he would adopt the constituency if party candidate K. Prabhakar Reddy won the Noveber 3 bypoll, announced on Thursday plans to launch development programmes in erstwhile Nalgonda district at a cost of Rs 1,544 crore in six months, of which the Munugode constituency will receive development works worth Rs 355 crore.

A team of five ministers led by Rama Rao at constituency and held a day-long review meeting on the constituency's development as promised during the recent bypoll, which the TRS won. The team included ministers G. Jagadish Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Satyavathy Rathod and Errabelli Dayakar Rao.

Following the meeting, Rama Rao announced that he would undertake development programmes in all municipalities in the erstwhile Nalgonda district at a cost of Rs 334 crore, for laying roads Rs 402 crore, for panchayat raj and rural development works Rs 700 crore, for tribal welfare Rs 100 crore and for power substations Rs 8 crore, totalling Rs 1,544 crore.

For the Munugode constituency, Rama Rao announced Rs 100 crore for roads, Rs 175 crore for rural development, Rs 30 crore for Chandur municipality development, and Rs 50 crore for Choutuppal municipality development.

He also announced the establishment of a 100-bed government hospital in Munugode, as well as upgrading Chandur as revenue division. Rama Rao announced plans to set up a tribal school in Narayanapuram mandal and establish Banjara Bhavan at a cost of Rs 1 crore, as well as a toy park on 100 acres in Dandu Malkapur, which will employ 10,000 people.

Stating that the TRS government had spent Rs 454 crore in the last eight years for the development of municipalities in Nalgonda district, he asked Nalgonda Urban Development Authority, Yadadri Temple Development Authority in Yadadri district along with 19 municipalities to complete all pending works by March 31, 2023. In the current fiscal year, the state government, according to Rao, is implementing a 10-point agenda for municipal development across the state.
