Gangula deposes before CBI in fake IPS officer’s case

HYDERABAD: CBI officials questioned minister Gangula Kamalakar and Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravi and recorded their statements in connection with the arrest of one K. Srinivas of Visakhapatnam for impersonating as a CBI officer and collecting amounts from businessmen.

The two were served notices by CBI officials and they appeared before them in Delhi on Thursday. Over a nine-hour questioning, CBI officials grilled the two in the presence of the accused Srinivas.

Kamalakar said that while probing Srinivas, they found his contact number and pictures, based on which they served notice to him.

"I cooperated with the agency. I respect the law and CBI officials. There is nothing important in the case and the CBI officials did not ask me to appear again," the minister said.

The CBI registered a case against a private person, K. Srinivas, resident of Chinnawaltair, Visakhapatnam, on the allegations that posing as a senior CBI officer, he took money in lieu of getting their works done.
