Visakhapatnam: In a bid to increase green cover in the ‘city of destiny’, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will start the second phase of its seed balling programme with the support of Eastern Naval Command on Friday. GVMC commissioner C.M. Saikanth Verma said Naval officials are in full support to drop the seed balls on the seven hills in the city.
“One lakh-fifty thousand seed balls were scattered on the seven hills in the city limits on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. Another fifty thousand seed balls will be flown and dispersed on November 3.” said Verma.
The INS' Dega helicopters will be used to drop the seed balls on Bheemili’s Pavurala Hill, Kapuluppada Hill, Simhachalam Hill, Porlupalem Hill near Meghadri, Vedurla Narava Hill and Yarada Hill.
